The ‘Selling Sunset’ Cast Shake-Up That No One Saw Coming

We knew there would be some reality TV shakeups in the real estate industry in 2026, but the news that came out last week was surprising, to say the least: Selling sunset Season 10 will see a major shakeup in the cast, with only four members returning.
What happened
After season 9 Selling sunset During the reunion, Chrishell Stause announced that she would not return for the next season due to a feud with former best friend Emma Hernan.
On April 10, 2026, Gio Helou, a cast member, appeared on Sell the OC, a sister franchise of Selling sunsetannounced on his Instagram that the show is on “indefinite hiatus,” saying, “I think we can all read between the lines there.”
The same day, Cosmopolitan reported“Surprisingly enough drama among the cast is not the reason for the film delay. Instead, it is like this Sale of the OCs sister show, Selling sunsetthat’s the problem. Sources say filming ‘hit a snag’ amid a ‘cast shakeup,’ so Netflix is prioritizing getting it back ‘up and running’.”
The catch? More than half of the cast will not return. That includes Chrishell Stause, Nicole Young, Chelsea Lazkani, Emma Hernan, Mary Bonnet, Alanna Gold and Sandra Vergara. Who’s left? Amanza Smith, Bre Tiesi, Brett Oppenheim and Jason Oppenheim. Christine Quinn and Heather Rae El Moussa also return this season. And there are rumors about that Sale of the OC‘s Alex Hall will make the move to LA.
Mary Bonnet’s opinion
To find out everything about what’s going on, Inman sat down with original cast member Mary Bonnet. What follows is that conversation, edited for length and clarity.
Inman: I hear you’re not coming back for season 10. Is that true?
Bonnet: That’s true. I’m not aligned with the show and with the production, and I’m not saying I won’t be back for season 11 if things go well with the new shake-up and all. But for season 10 I won’t participate. I’m focusing on some other things.
So, to dispel the rumors, was it your choice to step away?
I made the choice, but production and I are generally not on the same page, so it was a mutual decision on this, because I’m not participating in anything they tried to do in season 9, but I wasn’t fired, just to make that clear. I’m still the vice president of the Oppenheim Group… It’s just the show and the vision of it. And I want it to be more female empowerment, not what it has been.
Returning to the cast are Amanza Smith Bre Tiesi, Brett Oppenheim and Jason Oppenheim. And rumor has it that Alex Hall is coming from Sale of the OC comes too. Is that true?
I heard that too. I didn’t ask Jason about it. I think it’s true based on who I heard it from, but I didn’t actually ask Jason. When I talked to him yesterday, he came out of a scene and said, “Honey, we need you back.”
You’re friends with Heather Rae El Moussa, but Christine Quinn left you with a bit of a sour feeling. What do you think of her return?
I have nothing against Christine… It’s a shame she changed the way she acted from the girl I knew before… She was a girl from Texas and had no makeup on. She cooked and everything, and we just had a great time.
She was a normal, fun, wonderful girl, and I think fame had a bit of a hold on her. And she stopped seeing people as human beings, and we were characters. And so it’s just one character doing things to another character, and she forgot that we’re human.
And so I think that’s where things got bad, where I just couldn’t be there anymore, or defend her anymore… I don’t hold any grudges. I think she’ll be good for the show, especially with the whole recasting… she’s very charismatic, entertaining and funny. I’m all for her coming back to the show.
How do the other cast members feel about her return?
I think [Bre Tiesi] thinks it’s going to be interesting. She knows it from stories and from learning what happened before, but Bre is Bre, and no one is going to intimidate her.
[Heather Rae El Moussa] sits a little more on the fence. She’s a big girl and she’s toughened up a lot over the years [Tarek El Moussa]and she is now speaking her mind. And she’s not Christine’s biggest fan.
We will definitely take a look. What’s next for you?
I’m not that involved with OC or San Diego. Maybe that will happen soon, because they are doing much better than LA. Real estate in LA is terrible right now, so I was thinking about moving to OC this summer and doing business that way. Like renting out my house and renting the place down there… or that, or maybe some kind of Montecito area to consider opening an office there.
When you look back on your time on Selling Sunset – it’s been nine seasons – is there anything you take with you?
I’m very grateful for the show. I am grateful for the platform I have now. I think it’s opened a lot of doors, and it’s given me a voice that I never would have had before, and I want to use that for good… I’ve had to toughen up.
I’ve always been very sensitive to criticism and judgment, and yes, you have to be tougher on that when you’re in this position, because everyone talks. Everyone says things, and they don’t realize that you’re human, and you have feelings, and this is your real life and your real reputation. I’ve definitely had to toughen up, which is good because I’m very sensitive.
Mary Bonnet will speak at Inman Luxe Connect on July 27-28.
