‘The Rainmaker’ Adds Richard Kind to the Season 2 Cast

“The Rainmaker” has filled the house with three new actors joining the season 2 cast.
Richard Kind joins the USA Network legal drama as Larry Shifflet, the father of PJ Byrne’s Deck Shifflet. Kevin Ryan will return as Liam Donnelly, a corporate vice president with a secret agenda who takes on Rudy and Deck. And Asher DeLand will return as Victor Suffredes, a tough but good-natured boy with a troubled past. Victor is described as a “victim of the system” who ends up in juvenile detention and enlists Rudy Baylor to help him fight back.
Based on John Grisham’s 1995 novel of the same name, “The Rainmaker” follows Rudy Baylor, a young lawyer who is fired from his white shoe firm and joins a small-time ambulance chaser and her less-than-honest paralegal who work out of a former restaurant. Rudy files a compelling wrongful death lawsuit and is confronted in court by his former employer.
The season 2 logline reads: “Rudy, Deck and Bruiser face adversaries old and new in a case where the lives of hundreds of children are at stake, and where winning can be just as dangerous as losing.”
Season 1 of The Rainmaker starred Milo Callaghan, John Slattery, Lana Parrilla, Madison Iseman, Byrne and Karen Bryson. Previously announced season 2 cast members include Merle Dandridge and Austin Nichols. The show is produced by Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television.
Kind is represented by Innovative Artists and Forster Entertainment. Ryan is represented by Ruth A. Young at United Agents in the UK, Deanna Russo Clark at Entegrity International and David Unger at Artist International Group for management, and Cynthia Booth at Arise Artists Agency in the US. DeLand is repped by Coast to Coast Talent Group, Protege Entertainment.
