The end of the late show of Stephen Colbert was a ‘no-brainer’

Former Late-Night host Samantha Bee gives her the recording to CBS that cancels ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’.
During a recent appearance on the “Breaking bread with Tom Papa“Podcast, Bee said she believes that the end of Stephen Colbert’s” Late Show “was a” financial decision “, as quoted by CBS, but also thinks it was partly to” Curry Gunst with the President “in the middle of the merger between Paramount, CBS” parent company and skydance.
“I think both things are true,” she said. “It was absolutely bleeding money. These legacy shows are the bleeding of money without a real end … in sight, people just don’t agree.”
Bee added: “People literally face one thing on their phones, so they don’t really need a summary of the events of the day. They are very good at home in what happened.”
She further explained that during the organization of her TBS show ‘Full Frontal’, which ran seven seasons from 2016 to 2022, no controversy stir -off stirring was a ‘constant source of conversation’ during network mergers. From her experience it seemed a ‘no-brainer’ for CBS to end ‘the late show’.
“It is so much easier for them to cut it loose with this merger that comes down the pike,” said Bee. “It makes the decision such a no-brainer, and probably the most painful decisions they had about how we drive this? How do we not get much recoil? I am sure they knew it happened a long time ago.”
Although Bot about the fate of Colbert’s ‘Late Show’, she still thinks that the sudden cancellation was ‘terrible’.
“I love Stephen,” she said. “I consider him a friend. I love him. I am shocked, not surprised.”
