George Clooney skips Julia Roberts’ big night amid Amal’s divorce rumors
Instead of walking the red carpet with Roberts, Straight Shuter saw George escorting Amal to the Broadway play Artstarring James Corden, Bobby Cannavale and Neil Patrick Harris.
“He ruined a major Hollywood moment to be on a date with his wife,” the insider said. “It was sweet – and very George.”
Sources said the couple held hands during the performance, with an insider saying: ‘George seemed excited to be by her side.’
Recently, the actor sparked even more marital crisis rumors after the Hollywood star’s recent ‘drunk relapse’ infuriated his wife.
The 64-year-old actor, who was the picture of sophistication alongside 47-year-old Amal at the Tony Awards in June, shocked fans when he later confessed Esquire magazine, he ended the night “like a high school drunk.”
The Ocean Elf Star admitted that he “made up all his abstinence in one night,” and joked that he was “sick all day the next day.”
But while the story entertained readers, sources close to the couple say Amal was anything but entertained.
A source close to the couple said: “Amal has drawn a clear line. She has told George that his drinking is not something she wants to overlook. She admired the effort he made to stay sober, but hearing him brag about his ‘stupid drunkenness’ really upset her.”
