The Datai Langkawi launches new catamaran expeditions across the Andaman Sea and beyond | News

Luxury rainforest resort The Datai Langkawi invites guests to sail the Andaman Sea and explore the lesser-known parts of Langkawi and neighboring southern Thailand, with new itineraries aboard the resort’s very own catamaran, Gadis Pulao. Available for shared or private charters, each trip offers an intimate encounter with the quiet majesty of the surrounding archipelago, filled with hidden coves, pristine beaches and serene seascapes. In 2026, the resorts also introduced their first overnight private charter experience, sailing to the idyllic island of Koh Lipe in southern Thailand.

The Datai Langkawi’s sleek Gadis Pulao, a 17.5-metre catamaran meaning ‘the island lady’ in Malay, can accommodate up to 12 guests and offers a range of half- and full-day sailing experiences around Langkawi and overnight trips to the Andaman Archipelago in southern Thailand. The half-day Discovery Cruise sails from Datai Bay north towards Koh Tarutao National Park in southern Thailand, the country’s first marine national park, before following the dramatic coastline of Machinchang and the scenic Strait of Chinchin, with opportunities to swim and enjoy a picnic lunch on board. The Sunset Cocktail Cruise explores the Andaman Sea during golden hour, sailing past Datai Bay and Tanjung Chinchin as guests enjoy snacks and drinks while watching the changing colors of the sky.

For those looking for a more personalized experience, private charters range from four hours to a full day of travel. The private half-day cruise follows the scenic route towards Koh Tarutao and the Machinchang coast, with time for swimming, wildlife watching and relaxing on deck. The full-day Indulgence Cruise sails further into the Andaman Sea, combining sailing with kayaking, snorkeling and swimming, as well as a chef-prepared lunch and afternoon cocktails on board.

The new Koh Lipe overnight tours offer ocean escapes that reveal the beauty of the island in Tarutao National Marine Park, Thailand. Available as two- or three-day private charters, these sailings depart from Telaga Port and include stops at key locations in southern Thailand such as Monkey Beach, Pattaya Beach, Koh Adang, Koh Jabang, Koh Hin Ngam and Koh Butang. They can be adapted to guests’ ideal routes around the archipelago. Guests can snorkel in vibrant coral gardens, kayak or paddle board in clear waters, hike to panoramic viewpoints, enjoy picnics on the private beach, try deep-sea fishing or explore Koh Lipe’s Walking Street and beachside nightlife. On board, a dedicated crew and private chef oversee tailor-made dining experiences, balancing time between island exploration and leisurely sailing across the Andaman Sea.

Catamaran excursions start from MYR 1,210 (approximately GBP 226) per person.
