Tales From ’85’ Renewed for Season 2 on Netflix

Netflix has renewed the animated series ‘Stranger Things: Tales From ’85’ for season 2. The news comes just five days after the series premiered on April 23.
The events of the animated show take place between seasons 2 and 3 of the live-action mothership series. The official logline reads:
“In the winter of 1985, snow covers the town and the horrors of Upside Down are finally fading. Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas and Max have returned to a normal life of D&D, snowball fights and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened. Could it be from Upside Down? From the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or somewhere else? Our heroes must race to solve this mystery and save Hawkins in this new story set in the ‘Stranger Things’ universe.”
None of the actors from the original ‘Stranger Things’ reprise their roles in the ‘Tales from ’85’. The animated show’s voice cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, Luca Diaz, Braxton Quinney, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Elisha Williams, Ben Plessala, Brett Gipson, Jeremy Jordan and Alessandra Antonelli. Odessa A’zion, Lou Diamond Phillips and Janeane Garofalo also star in voice roles.
Eric Robles and Jennifer Muro developed the series, with Robles serving as executive producer and showrunner. ‘Stranger Things’ creators Matt and Ross Duffer executive produce through Upside Down Pictures along with Hilary Leavitt. 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy is also an executive producer, as is Dan Cohen. Flying Bark is the animation studio.
“Tales from ’85” debuted at number seven on Netflix’s weekly top 10 English-language TV charts for the week of April 20-26. It was watched for 13.8 million hours, which, divided by the show’s total running time, equates to 2.8 million views.
