Season 3 of ‘One Piece’ starts production, 4 promoted to series regular

Season 3 of “One Piece” is officially in production for Netflix in Cape Town, South Africa.

As previously announced, the streamer has renewed the live-action version of the beloved manga and anime series for a third season ahead of the season 2 premiere, scheduled for March 10, 2026.

Additionally, season 2 cast members Mikaela Hoover (Chopper), Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0), Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefartari Cobra) have all been promoted to series regular status for the third season.

The cast also includes returning stars Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero and Taz Skylar, as well as the aforementioned new cast members alongside Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday. It was also recently announced that Cole Escola has joined season 3 as Bon Clay, while Xolo Maridueña will play Portgas D. Ace.

Season 2 of the show is officially titled ‘One Piece: Into the Grand Line’. The official logline for the season reads:

“Netflix’s epic pirate adventure at sea, ‘One Piece,’ returns for Season 2, unleashing fiercer adversaries and the most dangerous quests yet. Luffy (Godoy) and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line – a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await around every corner. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”

Matt Owns and Joe Tracz serve as showrunners, writers and executive producers on Season 2. Tracz and Ian Stokes will fill these roles for Season 3. Other executive producers include “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda, Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe and Steven Maeda. The show was created in collaboration with Shueisha and is produced by Tomorrow Studios (a partner of ITV Studios) and Netflix.
