Offering full refunds or postponements of canceled flights | News

Untravelled Paths, the specialist travel company known for organizing extraordinary journeys to the world’s most remarkable destinations, today announces the launch of its Flight Cancellation Protection policy, a direct and meaningful response to the growing uncertainty gripping the aviation industry due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and its impact on global fuel supplies.

With jet fuel prices rising from $74 to $150 per barrel since the outbreak of conflict in the region earlier this year, European airlines are under unprecedented financial pressure. Industry analysts have warned that budget airlines are particularly vulnerable, and the collapse of Britain’s Ascend Airways in late April, along with the demise of US carrier Spirit Airlines on May 2, has been a stark reminder of how quickly the situation can change. Travelers planning their summer vacation have every right to be nervous. Untravelled Paths has decided to do something about it.

Starting May 6, 2026, Untravelled Paths will offer flight cancellation protection on all trips. For a modest additional fee, from just £49 per person, customers can book their dream trip safe in the knowledge that if their flight is canceled due to the fuel crisis or associated geopolitical disruption, they won’t lose a penny of their travel costs.

The policy offers a full refund or free postponement to an available date within 24 months for flights canceled more than 14 days before departure. Free deferrals are available for cancellations made between 48 hours and 14 days before departure, the time frame within which airlines have typically given notices during the current crisis. Refunds are processed within 20 business days of receipt of valid documentation, and the entire claims process is designed to be as simple as possible.

“We know travelers are hesitant right now, and that’s understandable,” said James Chisnall, founder of Untravelled Paths. “The airline industry is facing one of the most testing periods in living memory, and whether your flight will actually take place is no longer an abstract concern, it’s something people genuinely worry about when they reach for their credit card. We wanted to completely eliminate those concerns. Book with us, add our protection, and no matter what happens with your airline, your travel expenses are safe.”

The protection fee is adjusted to the value of the trip, so customers only pay for what they protect:

Travel up to £1,000 per person: £49 per person
Travel from £1,001 to £2,500 per person: £89 per person
Travel from £2,501 to £4,000 per person: £129 per person
Travel above £4,001 per person: £175 per person
Untravelled Paths also urges customers to book flights with a credit card and purchase independent travel insurance, including Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance (SAFI), which provides a comprehensive extra layer of protection if the airline of their choice encounters serious financial difficulties. With Ryanair’s CEO publicly stating that certain European airlines are at risk of collapse in the fall if fuel prices remain at current levels, the importance of traveling with full protection has never been greater.

Coverage must be added at the time of booking or within 7 days of the original booking date, and cannot be purchased once a cancellation notice has already been issued by an airline. Full terms and conditions are available at www.untravelledpaths.com.
