Marilyn Monroe Tapes revive the debate about recent years

Miller said, “One time I brought doctors to pump her out because she had swallowed enough stuff (drugs) to kill her.

“So I felt like she was in a very delicate psychological position. It turned out that it took several years, but it happened. It was beyond my power, nor anyone else’s, to stop her.

‘It was impossible for her to live, let alone with anyone. You couldn’t continue with that intensity of life and those drugs and manage to survive.”

A source familiar with the newly released recordings said Miller had long felt guilty about Monroe’s decline, despite believing there was ultimately little anyone could do to save her.

The insider added: “Arthur clearly loved Marilyn dearly, but these tapes show a man who felt overwhelmed and emotionally drained by the chaos surrounding her life.”

Another source who has studied Monroe’s life said the shooting painted a portrait of a woman caught between fame, insecurity and addiction.

They added: “What is striking is how isolated Marilyn seemed to become. Arthur describes someone who increasingly distrusted everyone around her and who struggled to find stability even within her marriage.”
