LOT Polish Airlines started its new destination to the heart of Northern Portugal | News

On May 25, 2026, LOT Polish Airlines launched flights on the Warsaw – Porto route.
The route will be operated all year round: five times a week during the summer season and four times a week in winter.
Following Lisbon, Porto is the second Portuguese destination in LOT’s flight network.
Popular Western European destinations have become a permanent part of the national airline’s regular flight schedule. These destinations attract special attention during the summer season, when long-awaited vacations and dream family vacations finally become real trips. The recently launched Porto service, inaugurated on May 25, perfectly reflects this trend.
During the summer season, flights on the WAW-OPO route operate five times a week: every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. LOT Polish Airlines planes depart from Warsaw Chopin Airport at 10:20 am, while return flights on the same days take place at 2:25 pm. The flight time to Porto takes approximately 4 hours and 5 minutes, while the return journey to Warsaw takes approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Portugal has long remained one of Europe’s most attractive travel destinations, while Porto perfectly complements LOT Polish Airlines’ portfolio of city break and leisure travel destinations. By 2025, the passenger seat factor on flights to Lisbon exceeded 86%, reflecting a very strong performance. The new route will also contribute to the further development of tourist and business relations between Poland and Portugal. As LOT Polish Airlines continues to expand its route network, the airline remains committed to providing passengers with comfortable and convenient travel options to Europe’s most important destinations. I have no doubt that Porto will soon become one of the most popular directions in the national airline’s network.

The most enchanting side of the city
For centuries, the true heart of Porto beat in Ribeira – a neighborhood where the lively buzz of marketplaces and merchants blended seamlessly with the craft workshops and the fishermen’s daily catch. Today the area reveals two different faces: one postcard perfect and the other still largely undiscovered, filled with mystery and authenticity. In the more tourist-oriented part, visitors are attracted by the wide boulevard along the water, where colorful mansions stand one above the other. Restaurants and bars can be found everywhere, while in the evening the reflections of the harbor lights dancing on the water create an unforgettable atmosphere.
But to truly experience the soul of Porto, it’s worth wandering the quieter, narrow side streets, where clotheslines stretch between buildings and the less restored, sometimes rugged walls transport visitors back to centuries gone by. Generations of locals have lived here, preserving the authenticity and rich heritage of this remarkable place.

More than just historical monuments
A visit to Porto is also the perfect opportunity to unwind on one of the region’s many wide sandy beaches, accompanied by the soothing sound of the Atlantic waves. Interestingly, these coastal spots remain relatively untouched by mass tourism, as they are located slightly away from the city’s main attractions. This only adds to their charm and offers visitors an authentic and unspoilt atmosphere that locals especially enjoy.
When weather conditions are good, the powerful waves of the Atlantic Ocean attract water sports enthusiasts, especially surfers. The best conditions are found on Matosinhos beach, a favorite destination not only for surfing, but also for kitesurfing, windsurfing and SUP enthusiasts. However, you don’t have to be a professional to enjoy all that the ocean has to offer. Known as a real center for water sports, the area is home to numerous schools where experienced instructors guide visitors step-by-step through the basics of riding the Atlantic waves. And there is certainly no shortage of unforgettable experiences here!
Tickets for flights from Warsaw to Porto are available through all LOT sales channels, including the lot.com website, the airline’s official mobile app, the LOT Contact Center and the LOT Travel offices.
