Lizzie McGuire, Suite Life Spinoffs Axed for Wizards

Before Selena Gomez landed the lead role on the “Wizards of Waverly Place” of Disney Channel, she filmed pilots for spin -offs of two of the most popular shows of the network: “Lizzie McGuire” and “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.”

In a new one Interview with Jake Shane on his podcast “Therapuss”Gomez thought about her rise to fame as a teenager after she was presented as a child on “Barney & Friends”.

“It was actually a strange thing because I was sitting on three pilots for the Disney Canal: one was the spider of ‘Lizzie McGire’, one was the spider of ‘The Suite Life of Zach and Cody’ and the last one was ‘Wizards’, she said. I just thought a bit: “Ok, well, this is not going to train.”

It is true: in 2005 Gomez would play the leading role in the “Lizzie McGuire” spin -what is Stevie Thinking? ” As Stephanie “Stevie” Sanchez, the younger sister of the character Miranda of Lalaine Vergara-Paras. However, Disney Channel did not broadcast the show. Then she was cast in “Arwin!,” In 2007, which would have focused on the sweet caretaker of “Suite Life” played by Brian Stepanek and his children. That was not picked up either. But later that year, at the age of 15, she landed the role of Alex Russo in “Wizards”, and as she said Shane, “My whole life changed afterwards.”

“It was an immediate feeling of:” Oh, I reached my dream “at that time in time,” said Gomez. “I was such a big fan of the channel. I was a big fan of what they did for our generation, and it was an honor. I wear it proudly. I am definitely not ashamed of being part of the Disney High School experience.”

However, Gomez also thought about the star row of children and how it influenced her to grow up in the spotlight, where her personal life was increasingly dissected in the gossip magazines. Although she has limited her circle since then and now prefers to keep things private, Gomez Shane said that it was – and still is – difficult to deal with the ‘outdoor noise’.

“I don’t think it’s fair to put on someone, especially in their early 1920s,” she said about the media check. “That is why there is that whole thing of children’s stars, and it is scary because you don’t let people live their lives. You don’t let them become adults in a way that is exciting or healthy or inviting. They just put on anyway and you’re just figuring out life.”

Now that “Wizards of Waverly Place” has been restarted as “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” and has been renewed for a second season, Gomez appeared – who appeared in two episodes of season 1 and served as an executive producer – added that she strives to look forward to the young actors in the show.

“I look at them and I think:” Okay, make sure you become a child and do the things you want to do, “she said.” I believe that everyone can follow at any age at any age, but make sure you have a balance between normality and stability is so crucial for growing up. And whether that was given to me in certain times or not, I just stopped trying to impress people. “
