‘Law and Order’ Renewed for Season 26 on NBC

“Law and Order” is set to be renewed for season 26 at NBC, Variety has learned from sources.

The news will undoubtedly bring relief to fans, as the show was firmly in the bubble during NBCUniversal’s presentation to advertisers on May 11. Last-minute details are still being finalized, but the Wolf Entertainment drama will make it to the 2026-2027 broadcast season. The show previously ran for twenty seasons on NBC before being shockingly canceled in 2010, only to be revived in 2022.

‘Law and Order’ has had an incredibly wide cast over its run. Stars like Jerry Orbach, S. Epatha Merkerson, Sam Waterston, Benjamin Bratt, Angie Harmon, Michael Imperioli, Dennis Farina, Jeremy Sisto, Anthony Anderson and Jeffrey Donovan have all called the series home.

Hugh Dancy, Tony Goldwyn, Odelya Halevi, David Ajala, Reid Scott and Maura Tierney make up the series’ current main cast. Dick Wolf is creator and executive producer. Rick Eid, Alex Hall and Peter Jankowski are executive producers. The series is produced by Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment.

NBCUniversal will make its presentation to advertisers on May 11 in New York City. NBC has already made decisions on its primetime scripted lineup, including comedies “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,” “Happy’s Place” and “St. Denis Medical,” as well as the dramas “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago PD.” The broadcaster previously canceled the second medical drama “Brilliant Minds” and the freshman comedy “Stumble.”
