King Charles’ visit to US faces Jeffrey Epstein victim protests

Royal historian Ed Owens described the Epstein controversy as one of the major “tripwires” faced by Charles’ visit to the United States.

He warned that public unrest or demonstrations could cause awkward moments for the king and queen during public gatherings.

In addition to these concerns, tensions between Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer threaten to complicate the diplomatic context.

Trump has criticized Britain’s position on Iran and suggested Charles could play a role in repairing relations. He called him ‘fantastic’ and ‘brave’.

However, Moran warned that Trump might not be able to “resist the temptation” to criticize Starmer during the visit, which could potentially create awkward moments. Global security issues are also major.

Continued instability in the Middle East and the possibility of escalation regarding Trump’s Iran conflict could put Charles in a delicate position as head of the British armed forces.

Further complications have arisen following comments from Prince Harry, 41, who recently called for stronger US support for Ukraine during a visit to Kiev. Trump responded by saying Harry “does not speak for Britain,” adding to the tension.

Owens said the timing was “awkward” and could make it more difficult for Charles to address Ukraine without appearing to be echoing his son.
