‘Kardashians’ Producer Sele Leota Joins Entropico as Senior Creative
Entropicthe Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles-based studio that released Netflix’s “ONEFOUR: Against All Odds” last year has appointed Sele Leota as a senior creative producer. He joins the team after working with Entropico for almost a year.
Leota has a rich background in unscripted television and audio storytelling, including a five-year stint as a storyteller and producer at E! Television “Keeping up with the Kardashians.” Previous positions at Bunim-Murray Productions saw him contribute to series such as MTV’s ‘The Real World’ and Lifetime Television Network’s “Project Runway.” He also oversees post-production of Netflix’s ‘Coming Out Colton’ at 3/Ball Jeff Jenkins Productions.
In audio storytelling, he co-executive produced “Being Trans” and “Being Golden,” two of which were Lemonada Media‘s groundbreaking audio reality podcast series that won three Webby Awards in 2023.
Entropico recently produced YouTubes “A Drag Adventure Story,” starring iconic artists and creators Trixie Mattel and Juno Birch; “Enter the Realm,” a celebration of the YouTube role-playing community; and a range of branding and video assets for Google Marketing Live. The company also won a Webby for its work on ‘YouTube Game On: An Interactive Livestream Experience’, and a Gold Telly Award for its work on key titles from “The Clearing” for Disney+/Hulu.
FORMAT FRENZY
With the Jimmy Carr-hosted British adaptation of Korean format “The Battle in the Box” airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays on UKTV’s format agency channel U & Dave Something special has won two annual funds and accepted both the Format Lab (5 years in a row) and the Pilot Fund, from government-backed Korean creative content agency (KOCCA). The organization allows a maximum of two funds per year per company.
For the Format Lab, Something Special selected four teams of established Korean producers such as: Kang Sook Kyungoriginal creator of “Physical 100,” And Ji Hyunsookoriginal creator of “Single Inferno,” to collaborate with Something Special’s own format producers.
Over the past four years, Something Special has launched formats such as the spooky reality game show “Still Alive” and the play-along music game show “The Beatbox” in multiple markets. “Beatbox” was originally created by Nmedia and broadcast in South Korea MBN.
ODEON-WEVEL
British cinema chain Odeon plans to increase the premium Luxury experience with new developments throughout the country. The company plans to open an eight-screen cinema in Peterborough and upgrade existing locations in Norwich and Uxbridge to Luxury status.
The expansion comes as the film industry recovers, with “Inside Out 2” providing a strong guide to 2024. The Odeon Luxe cinemas feature cutting-edge technology, including 4K projection and immersive sound systems. New features include VIP beds in select screens and a Luxury Suite concept in Norwich, with private viewing pods. The Peterborough site, Odeon’s first in Cambridgeshire, is expected to create 40 local jobs.
