Jumeirah Burj Al Arab is undergoing a phased restoration program | News

Jumeirah, a global leader in luxury hospitality and a member of Dubai Holding, today announced that the iconic Jumeirah Burj Al Arab will undergo a carefully phased and thoughtful restoration program designed to safeguard its legacy for generations to come. After an odyssey of more than twenty-five years of continuous activity, the conservation of this architectural masterpiece will enhance its distinctive interior décor with the same attention to detail as in the conservation of a work of art.
Since its opening in 1999, Jumeirah Burj Al Arab has been an architectural and cultural icon of modern luxury, with the silhouette of the dhow sail shaping the identity of Dubai’s skyline. Since its launch, it has set new international standards, provided groundbreaking personal butler service and changed the face of luxury hospitality.
Following a rigorous and strategic selection process, the restoration, which will take approximately 18 months, will be led by acclaimed interior architect Tristan Auer, with the mission to preserve the cultural cachet of Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. His work is known for its refined approach to restoration and reflects a deep respect for heritage, craftsmanship and detail that brings a contemporary sensibility to timeless spaces.
A leading interior architect on the contemporary international stage, Auer founded his Paris studio in 2002, after honing his eye alongside two very different yet complementary figures: Philippe Starck and Christian Liaigre. Since then, he has left his mark on some of the world’s most prestigious addresses, from private homes to restaurants, hotels and palaces such as Hôtel de Crillon in Paris and the iconic transformation of Les Bains Douches. His unique design language and contribution to the international reputation of French craftsmanship have earned him widespread recognition, including the title of Designer of the Year and several awards in the field of hospitality design.
Thomas B. Meier, Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah, said of the restoration program: “Jumeirah Burj Al Arab is much more than an architectural landmark; it is a symbol of ambition, craftsmanship and enduring excellence.
