The couple played love interests on the screen, but their real romance only started when they filmed the sequel two years later. However, the real relationship did not last long and the couple separated after just a few months of dating.
“Demi and I knew it was in our romantic relationship that it might not be easy,” Jonas said about their split through a statement US Weekly In May 2010. “In the course of the time we have shared together that I have the feeling that I now have more to give our friendship. It was my choice to separate, but I love her as a friend. She was there for me when I needed her. I will stay her friend and there for her.”
Since their split, Jonas and Lovato have stayed on good conditions and have even been reunited over the years in various functions. In August 2025, Lovato was a surprising guest at Jonas’ Jonas20: Greetings from your home town Tour Stop at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. Lovato shared the stage with Jonas to perform several of their Camp Rock duets.

Two years later, Lovato and Jonas reproduced their roles for the sequel to Camp Rock. In the same year, Lovato and Jonas started to date in real life. However, their romance did not last long, and the pairbroke -up in May 2010.

After Lovato was opened over her struggle with resource abuse, Jonas shared that he tried to stay by her side as a source of support.
