Inside ‘Culture of Abuse’ at the Duggar family church after Joseph’s arrest

Emily Elizabeth Anderson, who was interviewed for the docuseries, admitted that she was abused by her father when she was about ten years old.

In another tragic moment, a woman with previous connections to the IBLP said that when she first heard that Josh Duggar was harassing his sisters, she initially thought it seemed normal for brothers.

In a previous one interview, Shiny happy people producer Blye Faust also confirmed that while filming the exposé, they discovered that family abuse was a “pattern” that seemed to be “rampant” within the IBLP communities.

“It’s something when you see a very secretive, patriarchally driven, closed society,” said Faust at the time. “Unfortunately, you see that these types of abuses are being propagated.”

Director and producer Olivia Crist added, “It’s horrific and unfortunately very, very common in this circle from what we’ve learned and what our survivors have told us through all of our research.”
