“Developed in collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog, the game features stunning visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, modern game design, and new surprises that honor the spirit and atmosphere of the original game,” Amazon said in a press release announcing the game at The Game Awards on Thursday. “As Lara Croft, players will use their wits and athleticism to explore exotic locations lost to time, traverse treacherous landscapes, solve deadly constructs and brave deadly predators in their search for the scattered pieces of the Scion – an artifact of immeasurable power.”

“Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis” will launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.

Both games are being developed while Amazon is also preparing a new live-action TV series ‘Tomb Raider’ starring Sophie Turner as Lara Croft.

“The two games we announced at The Game Awards and the Amazon MGM Studios TV series are being developed in parallel; they share a core DNA, but each project makes choices that are right for the medium,” Crystal Dynamics head of studio Scot Amos said. Variety. “For now, we’re focusing on the games and will share more details about Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst next year.”

Speaking about the development timeline for the two games, Amos said: “We have two parallel and powerful development teams within Fellowship Entertainment, who complement each other yet each own their respective game, whether that be Catalyst or Legacy of Atlantis. We are connected by shared technologies and gameplay systems where it makes sense, and by a shared leadership group that oversees creative alignment and ensures that all things fall within the Tomb Raider canon. Our collaboration with Flying Wild Hog on Legacy of Atlantis has been incredible – they really feel like a parallel Crystal Dynamics team. This development approach means that Legacy of Atlantis can arrive in 2026 to celebrate that meaningful 30th anniversary milestone, while Catalyst follows in 2027 with the scope and ambition the game demands.
