Fresh off being ranked the No. 1 Sports City in Canada and 22nd globally in the Burson Global Ranking of Sports Cities, Edmonton is preparing to host a series of major international sporting events that will bring athletes and fans from around the world to the city. The recognition reflects Edmonton’s strong track record of hosting global competitions and delivering memorable fan experiences, with several high-profile events in the pipeline.
On April 7, Edmonton will host the PWHL Takeover Tour at Rogers Place, bringing women’s professional hockey to the city as part of the league’s growing North American showcase and giving fans the opportunity to experience the growing momentum behind women’s professional sports.
On June 1, the Canadian men’s national team will take the field at Commonwealth Stadium for a FIFA international friendly – the team’s final match before the FIFA World Cup.
