David Letterman shoots CBS for Stephen Colbert ‘Late Show’ Cancellation

David Letman loaded on Friday on CBS and Skydance for canceling “The Late Show”, which he launched 32 years ago and said that the network had abused his successor, Stephen Colbert.

In an interview Posted on his YouTube channelLetterman said that he does not buy the official statement that the show has been canceled for financial reasons.

“This is pure cowardice,” said Letterman. “They didn’t do the right thing. They did not treat Stephen Colbert – the face of that network – as he deserves to have been handled.”

Letterman offered his first comments about the cancellation in a Zoom interview with Barbara Gaines, who was a performing producer of “The Late Show” for 15 years.

The former Late Night -Guestheer raised the payment of $ 16 million from Paramount to arrange President Trump’s lawsuit during an interview with ’60 minutes’, and said that the company had ‘decided that they did not have the freedom of the press’.

Letterman also mocked Skydance Media, soon the new owner of Paramount, asking if it is a discount airline and referring to founder David Ellison as ‘The Oracle Twins’.

“The Ellison -tweeling, the Oracle Boys, they don’t want any problems in the lines of freedom of the press or freedom of expression or freedom of expression,” Letterman said. “They don’t want to make their hands dirty. They don’t want the government to go after them, because that concept of freedom of the press and freedom of expression-that is so old-fashioned.”

Letterman suggested a conversation for a conversation between the “Ellison Twins” and CBS and suggested that the new owners wanted Colbert problems with the Trump government to prevent.

“So they say to the CBS people:” Gosh, what about that child, Stephen Colbert? He always shoots his mouth about the administration. We don’t want any problems from that guy, “said Letterman.” So the CBS people say, “Hey, guys, this is what I’m going to do. Not only do we get rid of that guy, we will lose the entire franchise, so you don’t have to worry about another man. It’s gone, Buddy. “”

Reports have said that “The Late Show” lost $ 40 million to $ 50 million a year. But Letterman said he thought that was a non -rusty excuse.

“This is what I know. If they lose this kind of money, do you tell me that I lose this kind of money yesterday?” he said. “I bet they lost this kind of money a month ago. I bet they lost this kind of money six weeks ago. Or they never lost money.”

Like a late-night host, often mocked his business rulers at NBC and CBS. Colbert succeeded him when he retired in 2015.

He said he believes that jacket will be fine.

“I love this for Steven. He is a martyr,” he said. “Good for him. And if you listen carefully, you can hear them unfold in the Hall of Fame for his induction, right?”
