Changi Airport to renovate private terminal and expand lifestyle hub | News

A new premium gateway is taking shape at Changi Airport. Changi Airport Group (CAG) has commenced the redevelopment of the former Commercially Important Persons (CIP) terminal site into a vibrant travel and lifestyle destination, with an upgraded private terminal and a new amenity cluster linked to the existing Hub & Spoke.

Strategically located at the southern hub of Terminal 2, the development will transform Changi’s premium travel experience when it opens in mid-2027.

An elevated private terminal experience

The new private terminal to replace the CIP terminal will be jointly operated by CAG and Plaza Premium Group (PPG). PPG is the global leader in integrated airport hospitality and passenger service solutions, operating the world’s largest network of airport lounges and providing a 360-degree airport hospitality experience. Offering a fully personalized luxury journey at every touchpoint, passengers using this terminal can rest and recharge in an exclusive area before being escorted for their flight. There will be smooth transfers to the boarding gates and easy access to Changi’s world-class shopping.

The private terminal will feature a luxurious lounge, bar, private suites and bespoke dining, combining refined elegance with tranquil luxury. It will also feature a versatile, high-end event space designed for larger entourages and private gatherings, where discretion, scale and elevated design come together seamlessly.

Mr. Ang Siew Min, CAG’s Senior Vice President, Airport Operations Development and Airport Operations Services, said: “Some of today’s travelers are looking for more than just a comfortable place to spend time before their flight – they are looking for a personalized luxury experience. CAG is meeting this demand with an enhanced private terminal that delivers an exceptional experience. In addition, a curated selection of dining and wellness offerings await just steps away from the private terminal, further enriching the range of options available to our passengers.”

An extensive Hub & Spoke

The expanded Hub & Spoke amenity cluster will offer fresh dining concepts, as well as wellness and pet-friendly facilities to serve both passengers and local residents. The venue is anchored by Changi’s first indoor amphitheater and open-air plaza, designed to host intimate to medium-sized events. It will be a dynamic destination for community and celebration.

With close proximity to Terminal 2 and the upcoming Hotel Indigo, the enhanced private terminal and expanded Hub & Spoke are poised to transform the southern hub of Changi’s Terminal 2 into a travel, lifestyle and wellness hub.
