Brian Cox slams Tarantino and says America hates women

Never one to mince his words when it comes to fellow actors, Brian Cox has gone ahead and attacked his “25th Hour” co-star Edward Norton (“a pain in the ass”), Ian McKellen (“not to my taste”) and Kevin Spacey (“a stupid, stupid man”) in a new film. interview with The Times from London. Cox, who is promoting his directorial effort ‘Glenrothan’, even labeled Quentin Tarantino as ‘depraved’.
“I’m more egalitarian than a lot of directors, the kind who call themselves visionaries,” Cox said of his own directing style. “I like to celebrate the actor’s achievements. In a Quentin Tarantino movie, all you see is Quentin Tarantino. That’s not me. I don’t want to do that.”
Cox already made headlines for his offensive acting when his memoir “Putting the Rabbit in the Hat” was released in 2022 and revealed that he turned down the role of the governor in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise and was relieved to do so because Johnny Depp is “so over-the-top, so over-rated.” Cox later said he regretted the shade and was “just being harsh” on Depp, adding: “You go for the easy joke. And I went for the easy joke. That’s what happened, and I kind of regretted it.”
Perhaps Cox’s most viral criticism is about his “Succession” co-star Jeremy Strong. Cox has spoken out against Method’s acting in several interviews over the years, often citing Strong as an example of why the acting style is “damn annoying.” In an interview with VarietyCox even brought up a connection between Strong’s Method acting and Daniel Day-Lewis since “Jeremy was Day-Lewis’ assistant. So he learned all that stuff from Dan.”
Day-Lewis pushed back against Cox’s thoughts during an interview last year Britain’s big problemsaying: “I once worked with Brian Cox and somehow got involved in this sunrise handbag conflict [over Method acting] unintentionally. Brian is a very fine actor who has done an extraordinary job. As a result, he’s been given a soapbox… from which he doesn’t seem to want to climb. Anytime he wants to talk about it, I’m easy to find.
At the request of The Times of London When contacted by Day-Lewis, Cox said, “No, I didn’t reach out because it has nothing to do with Dan Day-Lewis.”
‘Dan Day-Lewis, he’s discreet. He never disturbs it [the filming process]Cox continued. “He’s never been any kind of…I don’t want to go on about Jeremy because I’ve been in a lot of trouble and he’s begged me not to talk about him anymore. He’s a good actor, Jeremy. He’s a great actor. It’s just all the nonsense that comes with it. You look at kids – they don’t say, ‘What’s my motivation?’ They just do it!”
Cox even put the US on edge during his interview, saying, “They don’t like women in America. They won’t let a woman become president, not in the near future. Look what happened to Hillary Clinton. The patriarchy is so invasive and so insidious that it’s hard to shake it. I think the patriarchy is a fucking mess, and it’s the patriarchy that got us in the position we’re in now, and we’re not doing that.” Learn the lessons. I say: hand it over to the women.’
