Anthropic hires lawyers as it preps for IPO

Anthropic is preparing for an IPO that could take place as early as 2026. reports the FT.

It has hired law firm Wilson Sonsini to help get the process started, and the company is working on an internal checklist to prepare it for what could be one of the largest IPOs ever.

The company is also reportedly seeking a funding round that could value it at more than $300 billion and has also been in talks with investment banks, although it has not chosen an underwriter, the FT reported. Anthropic last announced a $13 billion raise in September, giving it a valuation of $183 billion. Wilson Sonsini has been an advisor to Anthropic since 2022.

This news comes as OpenAI, valued at $500 billionalso reportedly testing the waters for an initial public offering and has started preparing for the process, although no listing date has been proposed, Reuters reported.
