Airline passengers’ manhood ‘burned and blistered’ by coffee spill on lap

A man on a cross-country flight from Las Vegas to London found his luck running out when a piping hot cup of coffee slid from his ‘thin’ tray onto his lap. RadarOnline.com can report.

Now the man is suing the airline for leaving him in ‘absolute pain’.

Nicholas Gibbs said his life will never be the same after his p—s was badly burned when a cup of hot coffee spilled on him during a Virgin Atlantic flight.

“What happened was pretty much unbelievable from start to finish,” the 41-year-old recalled. “My tray was already quite loaded with food that was served to me earlier in the flight when I got a cup of coffee.”

He explained: “They placed it on the tray and almost immediately it slid off and landed on my lap. It was clear that the tray was very tilted and was too thin to support the food and drink. I was in absolute agony, but also in complete shock as the excruciating pain was just unbearable.”

Worse, Gibbs said the flight attendants’ response was nonchalant at best.

“Virgin was completely useless from start to finish,” he bellowed. “It must have been about 20 minutes before anyone did anything, and that was just to give me a bottle of water to pour over my lap.”

That offered him little relief.

“I then sat on a soaking wet chair for about an hour – of course I was in so much pain – before they finally applied burn cream to my p–s and put a bandage around it.”

Gibbs said he was given a simple painkiller and given “loose-fitting pajamas” as his pants were now soaked. He was also assured that the appropriate medical support would be ready to welcome him at Heathrow.

But when he landed, Gibbs said there was no one to help him.

“At this stage my p—s were badly blistered and the bandage they put on had fallen off,” he recalled, adding that he has had no contact with Virgin since.

And although his burns have since healed, he insists his life has been significantly disrupted and plans with his partner to start a family have been put on hold due to his injuries.

“It’s had a huge effect on my life, to be honest. It’s had a mental impact on me too,” Gibbs lamented. “When all is said and done, it’s my manhood, and it will never be the same.”

Gibbs’ lawyer said: “We feel that he has not received satisfactory care from staff on board, while Virgin’s response in the aftermath has been essentially non-existent. This is an extreme case, but the number of injuries caused by hot drinks spills caused by cups sliding off aircraft tray tables continues to rise at a worrying rate. We will continue to investigate whether these trays are standard unfit for purpose.”

An airline spokesperson responded: “Our cabin crew are highly trained to deliver drinks safely, with hot drinks served below boiling point and filled to the brim in specially designed cups or mugs.”

However, the airline has announced that hot drinks service has been suspended when cabin conditions are not suitable.
