A CPL Summer in Jamaica Book a cricket holiday shaped by culture and coastlines | News

Jamaica is inviting British cricket fans to make this summer’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) an unforgettable holiday experience, combining world-class T20 cricket with adventure and all the island has to offer.

Kingston is gearing up for an unforgettable week of cricket as the CPL returns from August 11 to 18, with the Jamaica Kingsmen making their home debut at Sabina Park, Jamaica’s iconic cricket ground. CPL match days here are much more than just sports. Fans can expect an energetic atmosphere where international cricket meets a passionate home crowd, against the backdrop of Kingston and stunning views of the Blue Mountains.

“Cricket has always been part of the soul of Jamaica, and the CPL gives us an incredible opportunity to showcase the very best of our island to the world. We are proud to welcome British fans this August, not just as spectators, but as guests of Jamaica. This is exactly the kind of tourism that creates lasting connections between people and places, and we look forward to sharing our culture, our coastlines and our warmth with every visitor who makes the journey,” said Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism, Jamaica.

The sentiment is reflected at the highest levels of government.

“”Jamaica has long captivated travelers with its unmistakable spirit and charm and there is no better way to experience that than through the energy of CPL cricket at Sabina Park. We want British visitors to see this as more than a match; it’s a gateway to everything the island has to offer, from our coastlines and culture to our food, music and people. Come for the cricket, stay for Jamaica,” said Donovan White, Director of Tourism, Jamaica Tourist Board.

In August, Jamaica will host four CPL matches at Sabina Park, including matches against the Barbados Tridents (August 11), Guyana Amazon Warriors (August 13), Trinbago Knight Riders (August 15) and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (August 18). All matches start at 7:00 PM local time.

The tournament attracts the biggest names in Caribbean cricket, with the likes of Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine among the household names expected to feature at Sabina Park in August. More international stars from England, Pakistan, Australia and Sri Lanka will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

For British travelers, CPL Jamaica offers the perfect base for a full island itinerary. Stay in Kingston for match nights before continuing around the island. Enjoy luxury resorts and relaxing all-inclusive stays in Montego Bay; In Ocho Rios, combine sport with family adventure through river rafting and ziplining in the rainforest; and in Negril you can relax on Seven Mile Beach or watch the sun set from the famous cliffs, the perfect contrast to the hustle and bustle of the stadium.

Besides the cricket, Kingston’s evenings have a lot to offer. Fans can explore the city’s vibrant nightlife, from outdoor events and sessions at the Dub Club with skyline views, to bars and local eateries serving jerk chicken, patties and Jamaica’s iconic rum and Red Stripe. During the day, immerse yourself in Kingston’s rich cultural scene, from street art and local galleries to museums celebrating the island’s legendary music heritage.

Great Britain and Jamaica share a deep cricket bond, reflected in past players such as former England internationals including Devon Malcolm and Mark Butcher.
