Reba Sitcom alumni who have appeared on Reba McEntire’s Happy’s Place
Happy’s place has enjoyed keeping it in the TV family by casting numerous stars from it Reba McEntire‘s previous sitcom Reba.
Rebaaired from 2001 to 2007, starring McEntire, Melissa Peterman, Christopher Rich, Joanna Garcia Swisher And Steve Howey. Nearly twenty years later, McEntire and Peterman reunited with the former Reba executive producer Kevin Abbott on Happy’s place.
“We are new characters. It’s a new time and it’s different. But the main things you liked are there. It really feels different [though],” Peterman said exclusively We weekly in October 2024. “In terms of trying to leverage the things that do that [Reba fans] love – like the chemistry we have – that is there no matter what. We’re just new characters. And Barbara Jean [from Reba] Reba was forced to marry her ex-husband. Gabby is there because she is her friend.
Peterman applauded Happy’s place for finding a way to “keep the magic” without copying the same sitcom structure.
“The other big difference is the real family and the reality of blended families,” she noted. “Happy’s place is all about finding family at work, and Belissa [Escobedo’s] character is also finding a family she didn’t know existed and figuring it out. You will feel the same warm feeling, but it is new.”
Her costar Howey felt the same way when he joined a possible multi-episode arc. “Kevin had this idea for this character beforehand. And then he said, ‘What if Howey did it? That would be really great if a reunion happens.’ I fit the character description, so he called me,” Howey recalled Us two months later. “The planets aligned exactly with this one.”
He continued: “Now, after twenty years, I can bring different experiences to the characters I play. Also the character relationships – because Happy’s place is something new – its different. Yes, they are Reba and Melissa, but the characters are different. Bobbie is very different from Reba. Gabby is very different from Barbara Jean, and Danny is clearly different.
