‘Twisted Love’ TV series on Netflix from BookTok author Ana Huang
Netflix has acquired the rights to adapt Ana Huang’s novel ‘Twisted Love’ and its sequels into a TV series with a seven-figure option deal.
According to the logline for the project: “A steamy new adult series that follows the lives of four best friends and their brooding love interests, riddled with dark secrets from their pasts, as they overcome the obstacles keeping them apart to fall in love. ”
If ordered to series, the “Twisted” adaptation would be the latest in a line of romance book-to-screen titles at Netflix, which has found great success with its “Bridgerton” and “Virgin River” franchises.
The ‘Twisted’ series of novels – which started with ‘Twisted Love’, released in 2021, followed by ‘Twisted Games’, ‘Twisted Hate’ and ‘Twisted Lies’ – have sold more than 12 million copies to date. The debut book spent 60 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and sold translation rights in 34 countries.
The “Twisted” franchise is especially popular among the reader-focused “BookTok” community on TikTok, where views for “#twistedseries” have surpassed 2 billion and “#anahuang” has more than 1 billion views.
Best known for the ‘Twisted’ series, Huang has published thirteen books in four series and sold more than 18 million copies of her novels worldwide. Most recently, she released “The Striker” in October 2024. This year she will publish two new books: “King of Envy” in April and “The Defender” in October.
