‘I would do an episode’

Taylor Kitsch is set to return for the “Friday Night Lights” reboot. Well, sort of.

As we discuss the reboot of the hit NBC drama on Sirius XM’s “The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw” (via AND), series star Kitsch said he has been “asked” to return for it. And while he’s still open to returning to the field in some capacity, don’t expect him to stick around for more than “an episode.”

“I’m always flattered. Never say never. But I would come in and maybe do something for an episode,” Kitsch said. ‘I don’t feel like doing everything. I was going to have fun, but I don’t want to lead ‘FNL’ or a reboot or something.

Kitsch further mused about what role he would play if he decided to return for the reboot. He said he could return as Dillon Panthers running back Tim Riggins or create “something” new for himself. Although he admitted that the latter was not likely.

“I think if you saw me as anyone else, you’d say, ‘That’s Riggins,’” Kitsch said. “Especially on that front, if you’re in Texas or doing it the way they’re going to do it. So yeah, I might play another team’s coach or something and be on screen for about eight seconds. Yes, I would.”

Announced in November, the “Friday Night Lights” reboot is currently in development at NBCUniversal and will premiere on Peacock. The official logline for the show reads: “After a devastating hurricane, a high school football team and their damaged interim coach make an unlikely bid for a Texas High School State Championship that becomes a beacon of light for their city.”
