Laverne Cox is stepping down as E! Red Carpet Host prior to Golden Globes
Laverne Cox has announced that she has stepped down as host of E!’s “Live From the Red Carpet” ahead of the 2025 Golden Globes.
“It is with an incredible amount of gratitude that I have decided not to return as the #LiveFromE red carpet presenter. I am so incredibly proud of the work we have done during my three years in office,” said Cox wrote on Instagramaccompanied by a montage of clips from various awards shows, in which the “Orange Is the New Black” alum interviews celebrities including Tracee Ellis Ross, Andrew Garfield, Steve Martin and Martin Short, Cynthia Erivo and Dua Lipa.
Cox thanked E!, parent company NBCUniversal, and the production company behind her show “If We’re Behind Honest,” Den of Thieves, for their “incredible support.”
“These moments remind me what an incredible privilege it has been to talk to some of the world’s greatest artists about their work, dealing with the pressures of success, etc.,” Cox wrote. “I am so excited to continue growing, evolving and exploring amazing opportunities as an actress, artist, host and speaker. I hope you will all continue to join me on my evolving journey.”
Cox, whose acting credits also include “Promising Young Woman,” “Uglies” and “Musical Chairs,” took over as host of E!’s “Live From the Red Carpet” in January 2022, replacing Giuliana Rancic. E! will be on the carpet for Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony, with “Access Hollywood” correspondent Zuri Hall and comedian Heather McMahan taking over hosting duties.
Cox will next be seen in the Amazon Prime Video comedy series “Clean Slate” opposite George Wallace, premiering on February 6.
