Oren Alexander is facing a new rape charge
The sexual abuse lawsuits against Oren Alexander continue to pile up. A woman filed a civil lawsuit in Colorado this week, alleging that the New York real estate agent and his twin brother Alon drugged and raped her in 2017 when she was 17 years old. It is the fifth known civil suit against one or more of the three Alexander brothers.
Maylen Gehret claims she met the brothers in Aspen, Colorado, during the Winter X Games. She said she and an unnamed friend – also called Witness One – were lured to a hotel room by the two brothers with promises of a party.
Gehret said Alon Alexander raped her in the bathroom and forced her to shower, while Oren ripped off her friend’s clothes and tried to rape her before escaping. The complaint states that Alon made advances on a third woman – Witness Two – who passed out in the hotel room, but Gehret packed her things and left with Witness Two.
The alleged incident bears eerie similarities to those in the web of criminal and civil lawsuits filed since March against Oren, Alon and older brother Tal Alexander, who was a broker with Oren at Douglas Elliman and later at Official partners.
Two women, Rebecca Mandel and Kate Whiteman, filed lawsuits against Oren and Alon in March. A third woman, Angelica Parker, sued all three brothers soon after.
In December, things took a dramatic turn when the three brothers were arrested in Miami on state and federal charges of criminal sex trafficking. One of the alleged victims in the federal indictment filed a civil lawsuit following the arrests.
The brothers and their lawyers have repeatedly denied the sexual assault allegations and characterized the civil lawsuits as a shakedown.
The brothers, currently held in a federal prison, are seeking release on state and federal charges. But prosecutors are trying to keep them behind bars, claiming they pose a flight risk given their wealth and international connections.
While the twins, Alon and Oren, were granted $3 million bail on state charges, the judge in the case suspended their release until bail was set on federal charges.
During a federal hearing Friday morning, Alon was denied bond and Oren’s hearing was rescheduled for Jan. 7. Tal Alexander was previously denied federal bond, but he has asked the court to reconsider.
Oren and Tal Alexander were once superstar real estate agents in Miami and New York City, representing many ultra-rich and famous clients. But the allegations and arrests have led to the closure of their brokerage Official Partners.
Side, the white-label brokerage that Official Partners was involved with has sued Oren, Tal and Official Partners for allegedly defaulting on a $4.6 million promissory note by disconnecting their real estate licenses. The brothers claim that Side fabricated the default case by disconnecting their licenses and refusing to reinstate them.
In the wake of the arrests, Side filed a preliminary injunction against Tal and Oren, attempting to prevent them from moving or liquidating the collateral on the loan.
Moreover, the Ministry of Justice Douglas Elliman – where Oren and Tal built their careers – requested information about their time at the real estate agency.
