Hallmark actor Johnny Reardon reveals tonsil cancer diagnosis

Johnny Reardon, star of Hallmark holiday films such as this year’s ‘Believe in Christmas,’ unveiled on Christmas Eve Instagram post that he is recovering from tonsil cancer.

The Canadian actor, who stars in the dog-themed detective TV series “Hudson & Rex,” wrote: “Last night was my first night out after recovering from tonsil cancer.”

He then thanked his partner, children, siblings and parents who helped during his recovery, as well as the medical workers and others who cared for him.

His wife Meghan Ory, also a Hallmark star, posted the photo to Instagram Stories and wrote, “This man inspires me every day with his strength, his kindness and love that never wavered once, even when he was in insane pain. You are my hero.”

Reardon also appeared in ‘Cypher’ and ‘Van Helsing’, as well as ‘When Calls the Heart’. His Christmas roles include “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “The Christmas Secret.”

Read Reardon’s message below about his gratitude for recovery from tonsil cancer:

“Last night was my first night out after recovering from tonsil cancer. It has been a long journey between these two photos and the difference is the love and support I have received from the people in my life. My amazing partner @officialmeghanory for taking on our entire world to help me get better. My brave children who inspired me. My father who took me for a walk every day even though I found it difficult to get out of bed – and I certainly find it difficult for him to see his son in pain. My mother @ocean__cottage who made me soups, ginger honey tea and green juices so I could get calories into my body. My sister and brother @dr_laura_reardon @marcreardon81 who helped with the kids and life’s challenges when I couldn’t. All my in-laws, who are not only in-laws but also family, who brought food and cookies and discussed challenges with us. Our nanny, our neighbors and everyone who sent food or love and support or messages and kind words and also all the wonderful doctors, nurses, technicians, hospital staff, psychologists, you are all my heroes and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Kindness is an underrated human trait. We should never underestimate it. Celebrate it and share it as much as possible. It’s free and life-changing. Happy holidays 🫶🏻.”
