Leonardo DiCaprio Art Basel charity event raises a whopping $2.5 million
Leonardo DiCaprio took center stage at Miami’s Art Basel, where he hosted a star-studded charity bash for his conservation organization and raised some serious cash for the cause.
The actor, co-founder of Re:wild — a group that works with indigenous peoples, local leaders and community organizations to save the planet — showed up in full force Friday at a private residence in Miami for the annual event, which drew from $2, 5 million.
Jamie Foxx And Soleil Moon Frye took control of the auction and offered unique trips to Madagascar, Argentina, Ecuador and Rwanda.
Because it is Art Basel, there were of course also exclusive works of art up for grabs.
Proceeds from the auction will go directly to supporting partners and communities on the front lines working to protect and restore some of the world’s most vital and irreplaceable forests.
Leo is no stranger to leading the charge when it comes to philanthropy: he has directed more than $200 million in grants to global environmental initiatives, advocates for marine conservation, protects biodiversity, uplifts indigenous communities and much more more.
