The Menendez brothers’ attorney, Mark Geragos, has convinced prosecutors to rule in favor of recidivism — potentially leading to their murder conviction being reduced to involuntary manslaughter.

Erik, 53, and Lyle, 56, brutally shot their parents, José and Kitty Menendez, 14 times in their Beverly Hills mansion in 1989, when they were just 18 and 21.

Sharon strongly believes that the Menendez brothers should remain behind bars because they chose to kill their parents rather than just “get away.”

They are currently serving life sentences without parole after their 1996 conviction, but new evidence has recently supported the brothers’ claims that they were sexually abused by their father as children.

Their attorney wants California’s governor to pardon them ahead of Thanksgiving, which could lead to their release within days.

Jack said the brothers still should not have shot their parents even if they had suffered sexual abuse.

Sharon said: ‘I’m against it because they killed their parents. Put it this way, if they could all have had the place here to kill their parents, why couldn’t they have the place where they could all leave? “

Referring to the alleged assault the brothers faced, Jack added: “I mean, if it happened, it’s shit and it’s horrible, but shooting your parents in the face multiple times. Murder is murder. It’s terrible.’

Journalist Robert Rand told Newsweek that Geragos is now pursuing a dual strategy to secure the brothers’ release.

Rand said, “Smart move on Mark’s part. He has created two parallel tracks, as I understand it: one where Judge Ryan will rule on the habeas petition, and another where the new judge, Jesic, will decide on the recusal.”

He added: “If the two judges both rule in their favor, I think they should be released within a few weeks.”

The case of the Menendez brothers has become extremely popular, especially with the release of the new Netflix series Monsters.

Because it takes 30 days for the petition to get to the judge, plus six months for a parole hearing and another four months for the decisions to be final, the Menendez brothers can expect an 11-month wait.

But that amount of time is nothing for Erik and Lyle, who spent more than thirty years behind bars.

DA Gascón said: “The two young men spent 35 years in prison. They would have done everything that was asked of them, including going to university and working as mentors to others.”

“They have also completed extensive rehabilitation work.”

District Attorney George Gascón has recommended a new sentence for Erik and Lyle Menendez.

He told it too TMZLive: “For anyone who has been paying attention, I’ve said all along that the biggest hurdle here is getting the DA to initiate the case to blame what the DA has now done.”

“We are now free to argue to the judge: ‘Look, Your Honor, based on this file, based on the law, just follow the law, you can and must recall this sentence. You must reduce the murder conviction to involuntary manslaughter. .'”

He also said the brothers “have served more than enough time,” noting that at their first trial, when the abuse was presented, more jurors voted for manslaughter than murder.

Gascón added: “It is now time for them to be released.”
