Martin Short stars opposite Jon Hamm in Fox’s ‘Grimsburg’ in season 2
Legendary actor/comedian and “Only Murders in the Building” star Martin Short will have a recurring role in Season 2 of Fox’s animated comedy “Grimsburg.” Short plays Otis Volcanowitz, the newest and youngest detective on the Grimsburg Police Department.
Short will appear opposite “Grimsburg” star and executive producer Jon Hamm, who plays the main character of Det. Maarten Flute. The news was expected to be announced Sunday during Fox’s “Grimsburg” panel at New York Comic-Con.
Here is the character description: “Otis is Grimsburg’s newest detective and also their youngest. Luckily, there’s nothing the mean streets of this city can throw at him that’s scarier than what he’s seen in the third-grade cubbies. Otis sets out to prove that it’s his skills as a child detective that got him this job, not because he’s a nepo baby whose wealthy parents happen to be the mayor’s biggest donors and the owners of the city’s hugely profitable active volcano dump.
In Grimsburg, Hamm plays Marvin Flute, a failed detective who is nevertheless good at his job, but not so good at being a family man or work partner. Back in town, he tries to make amends with his ex-wife Harmony (Erinn Hayes), who was raised by bears; his unstable son Stan (Rachel Dratch), who spends his time with his imaginary friend Mr. Flesh (Alan Tudyk); his mentor Lieutenant John Kang (Greg Chun) and human cyborg partner Det. Greg Summers (Kevin Michael Richardson).
“Grimsburg” premiered in January and has been renewed for a Season 2, returning midseason on Fox (and on Hulu the next day). The show is produced by Fox Entertainment’s animation studio Bento Box Entertainment and is wholly owned by Fox Entertainment. Chadd Gindin is executive producer and showrunner. Hamm, Gail Berman, Hend Baghdady and Connie Tavel are executive producers. Catlan McClelland and Matthew Schlissel created the series and serve as co-executive producers.
Short’s recent animated voiceover work includes “The Willoughbys,” “The Addams Family,” “Big Mouth,” “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot about That,” “The Magic School Bus Rides Again,” “The Simpsons” and “BoJack Rider.” Here’s another look at his character in “Grimsburg”:
