Director of ‘The Student’ Ali Abbasi don’t sweat Donald Trump‘s harsh criticism of his film… in fact, he encourages 45 to keep posting about the biopic.
We caught up with the filmmaker on “TMZ Live” on Monday, where we got Abbasi’s honest reaction to Trump trumpeting “The Apprentice” on his social media platform, Truth Social.
As Abbasi puts it… he has no problem with the former prez taking to social media to air his grievances as the backlash only draws more attention to the controversial film.
He notes… “Thanks to him we’re getting better publicity and getting more people to come see it. So I’m grateful.”
When asked if he plans to speak directly to Trump about the film, Abbasi made it clear that he is available to the Republican candidate and his family if they want him to host a screening.
He continues… “I think he’s curious too. I’d be curious too. It would be fun for him and it would be fun for me. We could sit together. Why not?”
Although we doubt Trump will take Abbasi up on his offer as DT has called ‘The Apprentice’ a ‘fake and classless’ film, as well as ‘a cheap, defamatory and politically disgusting hatchet job’.
Trump accused Abbasi of making and releasing the film in an attempt to thwart his 2024 re-election efforts.
But Trump shouldn’t get too excited… ‘The Apprentice’ has only grossed just over $1.5 million after its opening weekend so far.
