ANNOUNCING OCTOLA III: A NEW ERA OF ARCTIC LUXURY | News

On December 1, 2026, Octola III will welcome its first guests to a new wilderness retreat hidden in the remote highlands of Finnish Lapland. Located on the site of a former radar station, the invitation-only lodge accommodates up to six guests and combines ultra-private hospitality, tailor-made Arctic experiences and meaningful connections to Sámi culture, all in a vast private wilderness overlooking the tundra.

LAPLAND, BY PRIVATE INVITATION

Located 500 meters above sea level on the historic foundations of a former radar station, Octola III offers panoramic views over the hills of Finland, Norway and Sweden. Hidden in a protected Sámi wilderness area, the retreat accommodates just six guests across three bedrooms and is only accessible via a private waiting list. The elevated position offers exceptional conditions for stargazing and Aurora Borealis viewing, while a dedicated host, private chef, sauna, ice swimming pond and curated Arctic experiences ensure a fully catered stay. Intimate in scale and rare in nature, guests are invited to disconnect, breathe the purest air and surrender to the incomparable silence and wonder of these mysterious lands.

AN EXTENSIVE PRIVATE AREA

True exclusivity requires space, and Octola III offers this on an unprecedented scale. A private wilderness retreat spanning dozens of acres, with over 3 miles of private roads. Guests will find privacy, security and absolute discretion, in a refuge of unspoilt nature. Despite its remarkable seclusion, Octola III remains effortlessly accessible, located just a 20-minute private transfer from Enontekiö Arctic Airport.

DEEP IMMERSION IN SÁMI CULTURE & REINDEER TRADITIONS

A deep respect for Sámi culture is at the heart of the Octola experience. Just 45 minutes from Kautokeino, the cultural center of the Sámi people, guests can explore traditional silver workshops, historic sites and authentic cultural experiences. Working with local reindeer herders, guests can also journey across the tundra alongside migrating reindeer herds and gain insight into a way of life that has been preserved for generations.

ELITE RECREATION AND PRIVATE WELLNESS

Wellness at Octola III focuses on one of the Scandinavian region’s most enduring traditions: the contrast between heat and cold. A custom-designed pond, for invigorating ice swimming, next to a wood-fired sauna on the water’s edge, evokes spiritual and physical renewal in the snowy silence. Just steps away, a private Games Den offers an expansive 2,200-square-foot recreation complex for unique recreational activities. With a fully stocked bar, guests can practice suopunki (the traditional Sámi lasso technique) on a specialized indoor track, enjoy billiards, professional darts setup and much more.

CUSTOMIZED ACCOMMODATION CONFIGURATIONS

Designed by renowned UKI architects led by renowned Lappish architect Hannu Voutilainen, whose vision has shaped every Octola property, Octola III reflects the traditions, landscapes and spirit of the North in a refined and compelling way. Accommodation is available as one suite (48 m²), two suites (181.5 m²) or a full lodge (230 m²), allowing stays to extend from couples to small groups, whilst maintaining complete privacy and personalized service.

THE AURORA RADAR STATION
For larger groups, guests have the option to completely buy out both Octola III and its sister hotel Aurora Radar Station.

The Aurora Radar Station opened earlier this year and was a top secret location from the mid-1960s before being carefully transformed into an exclusive Arctic retreat. Surrounded by indigenous Sámi culture and nestled deep in the Arctic tundra, the property offers guests a rare opportunity to reconnect with nature in complete seclusion.

Located on the wider estate, Aurora Radar Station provides an ideal base for accompanying staff, security personnel or additional guests. The property consists of five apartments with ten bedrooms and eight bathrooms, in addition to dining options and a dedicated wellness area with a sauna, lounge and outdoor hot tub. The proximity to Octola III ensures seamless operational support while maintaining the privacy and exclusivity of the main lodge.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breathing Lapland’s pure Arctic air for just one week can extend a person’s lifespan by more than 24 hours, highlighting the profound health benefits associated with clean air and a pristine natural environment.

Building on Octola’s groundbreaking environmental performance, the Octola III features state-of-the-art air quality monitoring technology that continuously measures atmospheric conditions all year round. Guests gain real-time insight into the purity of the air they breathe, while at the same time the system provides valuable data to scientists conducting climate and atmospheric research.
