Gordon Ramsay’s mentor denies creating Kitchen Monster

White’s comments also echoed one of the most famous anecdotes tied to their relationship: Ramsay’s long-standing claim that his mentor once brought him to tears while working at Harvey’s.

In Modest cakeRamsay named White the living person he “disliked the most” and described him as “two-faced,” fueling the perception of a bitter feud between the pair.

However, White suggested the incident is often exaggerated.

He said: “(Gordon) made himself cry. He was chopping onions at the time.”

The story came up again during a recent conversation with the documentary filmmaker Louis Therouxwho challenged White over reports of Ramsay’s emotional breakdown in the kitchen.

When Theroux suggested White was downplaying the incident, White responded, “You weren’t there.”

Later in the discussion, White acknowledged that Ramsay had become emotional during his final days at the restaurant, but disputed broader claims about what happened.

He said, “No, no. That’s not true. What is true is that Gordon was crying, and it was his last night or his penultimate night. I think it was his last night. And it was very emotional for him.”

White added, “And he said to me, ‘I don’t care, Marco, just hit me, whatever.’ He was very upset.”
