Kamala Harris drinks beer with Stephen Colbert on ‘The Late Show’

Vice President Kamala Harris returned to CBS’ “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” Tuesday night, marking her first late-night appearance since clinching the Democratic presidential nomination in August.

Harris opened a can of Miller High Life with host Stephen Colbert. “The last time I drank beer was at a baseball game with Doug [Emhoff],” Harris said, before uttering the lager brand’s slogan: “The champagne of beers.”

During their interview, Colbert asked Harris about revelations from journalist Bob Woodward’s upcoming book, “War,” including that Trump has reportedly had as many as seven phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin since leaving office.

“Yeah, so I heard about it today. I haven’t read it. But look, I even said during the debate: Donald Trump – he openly admires dictators and authoritarians. He has said he wants to be a dictator on day one if he is re-elected president,” Kamala said. “He’s played by these guys. He admires so-called strong men and is played because they flatter him or grant him favors.

“The Commander in Chief of the United States of America must stand strong and defend the principles we hold dear. We must support our allies,” she continued. “We must strengthen the alliances we have, such as NATO, the strongest military alliance the world has ever seen. We must support our friend Ukraine, where Russia is trying to change borders by force.”

Harris’ appearance on “The Late Show” airs at 11:35 PM ET on CBS.
