Courtyard by Marriott debuts in Okinawa with a new beachside escape | News

Courtyard by Marriott, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of more than 30 specialty hotel brands, announces the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Okinawa Resort. The 170-room beach resort in Nago marks the brand’s debut in Okinawa and deepens Marriott International’s footprint in Japan’s southernmost prefecture, famous for its rich Ryukyuan culture, coral reefs and the UNESCO-listed Yambru National Park.

Located on Kise Beach, overlooking the pristine waters of Nago Bay in northern Okinawa, the hotel brings the warm, modern hospitality of Courtyard by Marriott to one of Japan’s most beloved island destinations. Famous for its subtropical climate, crystal clear waters and easy island rhythm, Okinawa attracts millions of domestic and international visitors every year. The hotel is approximately 72 kilometers, or an hour’s drive, from Naha International Airport.

“Okinawa has long captured the imagination of travelers, and we are thrilled to bring Courtyard by Marriott to this extraordinary island for the first time,” said Cristiano Rinaldi, Chief Lodging Product & Services Officer – Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International. “The brand is perfectly positioned to serve both business and leisure travelers drawn to Okinawa’s distinctive Ryukyuan culture, vibrant coastline and unique island way of life.”

Courtyard by Marriott Okinawa Resort offers guests a scenic beachside retreat with uninterrupted ocean and mountain views. Just steps away is the Busena Marine Park Underwater Observatory, where visitors can descend into an undersea observation tower and enjoy panoramic views of Okinawa’s colorful marine ecosystem and coral reefs. A short drive leads to Kanehide Kise Country Club, home to two championship golf courses set against a dramatic coastal and forest landscape, bordering the UNESCO World Heritage Site Yambaru National Park.

The hotel’s interior, designed by renowned Japanese architectural firm Kume Sekkei, reflects the modern aesthetic of the Courtyard by Marriott brand, focusing on comfort, functionality and contemporary style. Inspired by the iconic natural beauty of Okinawa’s west coast, the design features the striking contrast between the turquoise water known as “Nago Blue” and the golden sands of Kise Beach, widely considered one of Okinawa’s most beautiful beaches. Floor-to-ceiling windows and carefully curated interiors create a seamless connection with the surrounding landscape, allowing guests to experience the vibrant colors and tranquil atmosphere that define this celebrated coastal destination.

Guest accommodations: 170 rooms and suites with space to relax and work

Carefully decorated with modern amenities, the rooms and suites offer both comfort and style. The ocean view rooms have a private balcony overlooking the sea, while the mountain view rooms offer serene views of the surrounding landscape. Many rooms can accommodate up to four guests, making them ideal for families and groups. The suites offer generous living spaces designed for productivity and relaxation, with large windows that frame stunning sunset views over the ocean – the kind of backdrop that makes the end of every day feel like an occasion. Some suites also feature bunk beds, a thoughtful touch for families with younger children or friends traveling together.

Two dining options: from all-day international dining to authentic Okinawan delicacies

Guests can enjoy international dining at Shioka, where authentic Okinawan flavors come together with a daily international breakfast buffet and chef-curated lunch and dinner menus. The restaurant offers indoor or terrace seating so you can enjoy the sea breeze in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Opening out to expansive ocean views, the Lounge offers a welcoming place to relax or socialize, while the bar serves a carefully curated selection of drinks, including Okinawa-inspired cocktails.
