The Melukat Water Blessing | News

For generations, the Manukaya Let community has preserved and protected Tirta Empul Temple and its revered natural resources. To form a deeper connection with this sacred area, join one of the village storytellers for one of Amandari’s signature experiences: a sunrise Melukat Water Blessing ceremony that has been performed for centuries to wash away stress and rejuvenate the spirit.

The experience
Before the crowds form at this famous ancient water temple. Aman guests are invited to receive personal morning blessings at the revered pools. Under the guidance of spiritual healers and a village storyteller, such purification ceremonies can date back to 962 AD. Tirta Empul itself means ‘sacred spring springing from the ground’ and is a symbol of Bali’s enduring dedication to the healing power of water.

Amandari, Ubud
Located close to the artistic heart of Ubud, Amandari is designed to reflect the shape of an ancient Balinese village, with the pool reflecting the rice fields below.
Led by a sacred stone tiger, Amandari is designed after a traditional Balinese village on the green edge of the Ayung River Gorge. Freestanding guest pavilions and villas are reached via winding paths, while the curved swimming pool mimics the rice fields below. This place of tranquility, close to the artistic center of Ubud, invites reflection and exploration of the cultural heart of Bali.

Thatched-roof pavilions, inspired by traditional Balinese design, open onto shaded terraces and gardens. The interior is determined by natural materials of coconut, teak and bamboo, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor life.

Near Ubud, discover the stone gateways opposite the thatched-roof pavilions of Amandari, which open on three sides through sliding glass doors to lush courtyard gardens and feature coconut and teak wood accents. For those looking for a little more space, the Amandari Villas are surrounded by cascading rice terraces and stunning views of the Ayung River Valley below, offering perfect privacy for guests seeking an authentic Balinese experience.

Framed by stone getaways and enclosed courtyard gardens, Amandari’s Villas offer a more private, homely environment where generous living areas meet coconut and teak interiors under traditional thatched roofs.
