Beulah recruits Rip and the police kill Dwight
SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the fifth episode of “Dutton Ranch,” “Peaceful Find Peace,” now streaming on Paramount+.
After last week’s somber cattle slaughter episode, it’s nice to restart the show as Rip (Cole Hauser) offers to get the 10 Petal Ranch into shape for Beulah (Annette Bening). It’s a great way to bond all these players together. Let’s dive into this week’s drama.

- I love Beulah flirting with Rip!
- Okay, it’s interesting how the show finally revealed its actual plot five episodes in. The first four seem, in retrospect, to be a bit of a prologue…
- Targeting everyone is definitely intimidating. “Put your ass in the saddle”… yes, sir!
- Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Zachariah (Marc Menchaca) have one of my favorite “Yellowstone” universe conversations, where it sounds very deep and Western, but I also don’t understand what they’re talking about. But it sounds fun when they stare into the distance!
- What computer project is Beth planning? I feel like they’re dropping breadcrumbs, but I’m not following…
- Oh, we’re back to creepy Dwight (Ray McKinnon) and his strange animal lineup.
- Why did Carter (Finn Little) take Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind) on a date to Dwight’s exotic animal freak show?
- Uh-oh, Rip asking Austin (Sterlin English) about the disappearance of Wes (Nakoa DeCoite) and his family will cause major friction.
- Love Rip who fires Chet (Hart Denton) in front of everyone. Goodbye, loser!
- I have no love for Chet, but it’s pretty incredible that he left the dorm with a classic “Fuck all y’all.” Everyone has been tempted at some point in their lives to drop one of those bombs on their coworkers.
- Wow, what was Dwight? Actually to deserve the sheriff raid?
- RIP for a real weirdo. But the police are definitely acting with too much force!
- I’d eat some of that 18 hour brisket too! Damn!
- I love Beulah’s beautiful golf cart.
- Wow, Chet is playing with fire by threatening the Jackson family. You know they can easily kill you too, right?
- Not to give other families advice on parenting, but does Rip or Beth ever text Carter to see where he stands? I don’t think they need to be helicopter parents to confirm that he’s not in jail, for example…
- Interesting how Rip sees so much of Beth in Beulah…
- $11,000 a month seems pretty modest for all the work Rip has to do, right?
- Interesting conversation between Beth and Beulah. Much more mutual respect than I expected!
- Ah, this was Beth’s computer plan. Interesting.
- Beth has so much entrepreneurial confidence. I think she got a good deal, but maybe not? Who knows?
- “Beth works for me now.” Damn, Beulah doesn’t mince her words…
- Well, Rob-Will (Jai Courtney) is definitely going to ruin it.
