NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE® REVEALS GRAND OPENING DATE FOR GREAT TIDES WATER PARK | News

Norwegian Cruise Line® (NCL), the innovator in global cruise travel, today announced that the highly anticipated Great Tides Waterpark on Great Stirrup Cay, the company’s private island in the Bahamas, will take place on September 4, 2026, during Norwegian Luna’s seven-day cruise to the Caribbean.

Starting today, all guests sailing to Great Stirrup Cay on or after September 4, 2026 can purchase day passes* to Great Tides Waterpark and personalize their ideal island day with seamless, advance booking. To further enhance the experience, guests can reserve private cabanas for up to six guests, including water park access and shaded comfort just steps away from the park’s signature Tidal Tower with breathtaking water slides – perfect for relaxing between the thrills. Additionally, the water park experience extends beyond the 19 thrilling slides with three all-new food trucks serving a dynamic range of restaurants.

“Great Stirrup Cay continues to emerge as the premier private island destination in the Bahamas, and we are excited to officially open Great Tides Waterpark on September 4, 2026,” said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “With the best activities for families and every type of traveler – from high-energy water slides to relaxing lagoon experiences – guests can pre-purchase their day passes and, starting tomorrow, experience an unforgettable day on the most spectacular private island in the Caribbean.”

Spanning nearly six acres, Great Tides Waterpark offers a daring, family-friendly adventure through immersive attractions for all ages. At the center is the 50-metre high Tidal Tower, with the Breakwater Blasters – the industry’s first water coasters with descents and upward explosions in an inner tube – next to the Whitewater Dash with two body slides; Rapid Mat Racers with two mat slides; and a selection of tube slides, Tropic Storm and Tropic Spiral, with spirals and spins for an adrenaline rush.

Other highlights include Cliffside Cove, home of the industry’s first and highest cliff jumps; The Great Slide, the only four-person body slide in the Caribbean; Fearless Falls racing slides; and the hidden Grotto Bar, tucked away beneath the action, for a premium viewing experience. Younger guests can splash around in Splash Cay, a 2,000-square-foot kid’s zone, while adventure seekers can float on the Wandering River, an 800-foot, high-energy version of the classic lazy river. The water park builds on the recent transformation of Great Stirrup Cay, which includes the expansive Great Life Lagoon, with a beach-style entry pool, swim-up bars and plenty of space to relax with ocean views. Guests can also take their day to the next level at the adults-only Vibe Shore Club, enjoy family-friendly offerings like Splash Harbor, and explore the island with ease on the island’s newest tram system.

Travelers can visit Great Stirrup Cay year-round, with voyages departing seasonally from convenient homeports including New York and Philadelphia, as well as Florida ports in Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando (Port Canaveral) and Miami.

Guests looking to celebrate the water park’s grand opening can board Norwegian Luna’s seven-day cruise to the Caribbean from Miami on August 29, 2026. Norwegian Luna offers itineraries through November 2026 with visits to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; and Tortola, British Virgin Islands, as well as Great Stirrup Cay – perfectly combining the latest ship innovation with NCL’s latest island experience. For shorter sailings from Miami, Norwegian Getaway offers three- and four-night voyages to the Bahamas through October 2026.
