Prince Harry is facing questions about Invictus’s charity spending

Researcher Rachel Maxwell, who posted her findings on her Montecito Minimalist Instagram account and blog, claims the Canadian government is trying to sweep the spending scandal under the rug as almost half of the money used – $30 million – came from taxpayers, while the rest came from private donors.

“That’s life-changing money,” Maxwell said. “Would the veterans have rather shelled out $117,000 to buy new prosthetics, to make their homes ADA?” [Americans with Disabilities Act] to purchase vehicles that can support their wheelchairs?”

Maxwell also pointed out that costs for similar events for injured vets are relatively cheaper elsewhere. For example, the American Warrior Games operate on an annual budget of $2 million, while an Invictus-style event in Germany spends around $200,000 and involves half as many competitors.

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich said: “The question I have is: Is Prince Harry using the Invictus Games as a tax write-off, making money off the backs of veterans? If he doesn’t, there needs to be full disclosure that he doesn’t. Show us he’s not making a profit.”
