Partnership between Riyadh Air and Atlético de Madrid expands to include first women’s team | News

Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new national airline, and Atlético de Madrid have announced the expansion of their strategic partnership, with the airline becoming the front of shirt sponsor for the club’s Women’s First Team. This multi-year agreement reflects the men’s team sponsorship signed in 2023 and starting with the 2026-2027 season.

The partnership reflects Riyadh Air’s continued commitment to championing women’s sports globally and strengthening connections between Saudi Arabia and Spain through travel, sports and cultural exchange. Guests will see Riyadh Air featured across Club Atlético de Madrid Femenino’s club assets, including the Centro Deportivo Alcalá de Henares, digital platforms and fan engagement initiatives.

This partnership is part of Riyadh Air’s wider ambition to promote equal opportunities in sport and support both women’s and men’s platforms where it has already contributed to sporting titles such as LIV Golf, Concacaf and the WTA Finals. Osamah Alnuaiser, Senior Vice President Marketing and Corporate Communications at Riyadh Air, shared: “Our partnership with Atlético de Madrid reflects Riyadh Air’s long-term commitment to growing women’s sports and connecting cultures. Through this partnership, we also see an opportunity to inspire the next generation of female athletes in Saudi Arabia and around the world by contributing to the continued growth of the sport in the Kingdom, in line with Vision 2030.”

An additional stream that will emerge from the expanded sponsorship will include opportunities to support youth and grassroots football initiatives, complementing Riyadh Air’s broader community and talent development efforts, including its partnership with MAHD Sports Academy and the provision of knowledge transfer training for future professional athletes.

For his part, Óscar Mayo, Chief Operating Officer of Atlético de Madrid, said: “we are very happy to extend our involvement with Riyadh Air, with whom we have been working very closely since 2023. It is a source of pride to see a company with the ambition and projection of Riyadh Air increasing its support not only for our club, but for all women’s football, which is growing season after season in a steady and sustainable way.”

As Riyadh Air prepares to launch direct flights between Riyadh and Madrid, the partnership further highlights Spain’s strategic importance within the airline’s growing global network. The route will create the first direct capital-to-capital link between Riyadh and Madrid, strengthening cultural, tourism and business ties between the two countries.
