Hundreds of beagles rescued from breeding facility being rehomed

It’s a new beginning for 1,500 beagles who are being prepared for adoption.

After over six decades of breeding dogs, Wisconsin-based Ridglan Farms has agreed to release the hounds after being paid an undisclosed amount by Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy. Ridglan Farms, a commercial breeder that supplies dogs to animal testing laboratories, is set to surrender its breeding license on 1 July as part of a deal to avoid felony animal mistreatment charges.

The first 300 pups rolled out on 2 May, with more being released every day. Big Dog Ranch Rescue says more than 700 families have already expressed interest in adoption.
