Trump bragged: ‘Ballroom will be bigger’ than Windsor Castle Banquet Hall

Donald Trump boasted that his planned grand ballroom at the White House will dwarf the banquet room at Windsor Castle, making the astonishing claim during a British state visit: RadarOnline.com can reveal.

The president made the boast during a trip to England in September 2025, where he hosted an elaborate state dinner in his honor, just a month before Trump sparked outrage by ordering the East Wing of the White House to be demolished to begin construction of the mega ballroom.

Royal expert and biographer Robert Hardman revealed that Trump personally relayed his plans for the grand ballroom to him, recalling the meeting on the April 29 episode of The royalist podcast.

“Although he told me one thing, we were talking about St George’s Hall, the very impressive medieval hall where they held the banquet, and then he said, ‘Actually my ballroom is getting bigger,'” Hardman told host Tom Sykes.

However, the royal-loving president did not make this comment as a slight to the hall, which was first built in the 13th century.

“I don’t think he compared them in the way that size matters,” says the Elizabeth II: private in public author noted.

Hardman pointed out that Trump was dazzled by the over-the-top “spectacle” of the lavish state banquet, with the breathtaking setting seemingly the inspiration for the mega-ballroom he now dreams of building in the White House.

The ultra-glitzy affair saw 160 guests, dripping in white ties and tiaras, sit at the massive 50-metre-long mahogany table as they dined in Windsor Castle’s largest room.

“I think when you have a state banquet it’s kind of a spectacle; he absolutely loved his trip,” Hardman said of Trump’s visit to Britain.

“He sees that as a head of state you actually want to entertain in style, and I imagine that is the thinking behind this ballroom in the White House,” the royal expert noted.

Hardman pointed out that Trump has a huge ballroom at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, and that the man likes to play host and entertain, saying, “This is a president who likes to party.”

Trump has long been concerned about the lack of a true show-stopping space in the White House to host foreign dignitaries and top power players.

The bold president took matters into his own hands and secured private donations to finance a sprawling 90,000-square-foot mega ballroom.

Trump angered critics in October 2025 when he demolished the East Wing to make way for the event space with seating for up to 900 to 1,000 guests.

Currently, cramped state dinners are squeezed into the State Dining Room – which seats just 140 guests – or the East Room, which can accommodate around 200 to 260 attendees, with the latter hosting the state banquet for King Charles III and Queen Camilla on April 28.

Trump complained that the ballroom was not ready in time for Charles and Camilla’s visit.

“We’re having King Charles come. He’s a friend of mine. We’re really looking forward to it… you say, if I had that ballroom built, it would be full. I wish we had more seats,” he told reporters on April 24 about how his under-construction ballroom could accommodate more than 700 additional guests.

The president went on to note how ridiculous it is that the White House doesn’t have a very good entertainment space, adding, “You know, they’ve wanted a new ballroom for 150 years, and now they’re getting the best in the world.”
