The Masked Singer Season 14 Finale: Winner Ashlee Simpson

SPOILER ALERT: Details to follow for season 14, episode 12 of “The Masked Singer,” “Finals,” which aired March 25 on Fox.
The stars aligned for Ashlee Simpson, who was unmasked in the season finale of Fox’s “The Masked Singer” as Galaxy Girl, this season’s champion and winner of the gold “Masked” trophy. Also revealed in Wednesday’s episode: Phillip Phillips as Pugcasso, Kylie Cantrall as Cat Witch and Normani as Crane.
Simpson won it all after two final songs: ‘Good 4 U’ by Olivia Rodrigo and ‘Try’ by Pink. Among the panelists, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Rita Ora, Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong all got it right with Ashlee Simpson – especially as her sister Jessica Simpson came on stage before the final guess.
“It was nice to have my sister there that day and have her support,” Simpson said Variety. “I loved doing the show. For me, it was just having the freedom to perform with the mask on and rediscovering my love for performing and the joy it brought me. This makes me want to continue. It’s nice to receive the love from the audience, to be back on stage.”
Phillips finished in second place with Cyndi Lauper’s ‘True Colors’ and Phil Collins’ ‘Sussudio’. McCarthy-Wahlberg was right about Phillips. Ora thought it was Chris Allen. Thicke said Justin Guarini, Jeong picked Bo Bice.
For third place, Cantrall – who had been revealed to viewers all season – was finally unmasked as Cat Witch in front of the panelists. She ended by singing ‘Leave (Get Out)’ by Jojo, and ‘Greedy’ by Tate McRae.
Ora was right about her “Descendants” co-star Cantrall, and McCarthy-Wahlberg agreed. Jeong went with Ashley Tisdale, Thicke said Victoria Justice.
The first unmasking of the evening was Crane, who sang Janet Jackson’s ‘Together Again’ earlier in the evening. As for Crane, Ora was right with Normani, and both McCarthy-Wahlberg and Thicke agreed. Jeong thought it was Kelly Rowland.
Ashlee Simpson (Galaxy Girl), Phillip Phillips (Pugcasso), Kylie Cantrall (Cat Witch) and Normani (Crane) join Rachel Platten (Pangolin), Evan Ross-Næss (Stingray), judge Greg Mathis (14 Karat Carrot), Alexi Lalas (High Voltage), Jack Wagner (Eggplant), Heidi Montag (Snow Cone), Billy Ray Cyrus (Owl), Teddi Mellencamp (Calla Lily), Claudia Oshry (Queen Corgi), Taraji P. Henson (Scarab), Tone Loc (Handyman), Tiffany Haddish (Le Who Who), Todd and Julie Chrisley (Croissants) and David “Big Papi” Ortiz (Googly Eyes) as the celebrities unmasked in season 14 of “The Masked Singer.”
Back for season 14 are panelists McCarthy Wahlberg, Jeong, Ora and Thicke.
New this season is “America’s Insider,” in which singer, dancer and social media personality Kylie Cantrall shared behind-the-scenes hints and clues for viewers. The twist: Cantrall was dressed as Cat Witch, but only unmasked for viewers – so the audience knew who she was, but the panelists did not.
The Masked Singer season 14 themed episodes include a tribute to “Star Trek,” the ’90s comedy “Clueless,” the comedy franchise “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and the blockbuster “Twilight Saga” films. Fox’s new “Fear Factor” reboot also featured host Johnny Knoxville in a “Fear Factor: House of Fear Night” and an “Ozzfest Night” in honor of late rocker Ozzy Osbourne, including a special tribute by “Masked Singer” alumnus Kelly Osbourne (Season 2’s Ladybug) who saluted her father’s musical influence.
The 18 masked contestants in season 14 included Aubergine, Pugcasso, Queen Corgi, the Croissants, Owl, 14 Karat Carrot, Snow Cone, Galaxy Girl, High Voltage, Googly Eyes, Scarab, Handyman, Crane, Le Who Who, Pangolin, Stingray, Cat Witch and Calla Lily.

Galaxy Girl voiceover: “I’ve always wanted to play the Masked Singer. And now that I’m in the final, I can confidently say that it’s more transformative than I ever imagined. It’s not always easy to put yourself out there. When I was young and reckless, I didn’t have to think twice about it. It felt like the world was mine. But at some point everything changed. I was publicly humiliated. Called a fraud, a fake. It was devastating. I was so young and I thought it would be me definiëren. forever. From then on, I became cautious. Taking risks just wasn’t worth it. I focused on my family. Being a mom. The school lunches, the soccer pickups. Until one of my kids heard my old music, and couldn’t believe it was me. So, I started saying yes again. Being here I’ve been able to go back to being that fearless performer I was all those years ago. And put my past behind me for good. For now, winning that golden mask trophy would show my kids that taking risks is worth it. And that their mother is and always has been an absolute rock star.

Pugcasso voiceover: “This experience was a rollercoaster. I wasn’t sure what to think about this costume. A pug painting? What is that anyway? I’m the guy who made a career out of performing with just a microphone and my guitar. After my first rehearsal, I was completely turned around. I went back to my trailer and called my kids. They’re not used to their dad being away for so long. Talking to them forced me to take on this challenge. I’ve spent a lot of my career in doubt. You can do anything from robbing so much joy. But where’s the best place to find it again? The Masked Singer! So I’m a pug who paints, and I guess I dance too.

I’ve always had big dreams, and they’re still coming true. The last few years have been a total whirlwind. I remember going out on Halloween and seeing all these little girls dressed up as me. And I’m so grateful. But the pressure is on. I’m growing up now and trying to figure out who I am. To be taken seriously. Who I thought I would become Cat? Witch was exactly what I needed. Being here has made me grow a lot and I have learned that I am confident, powerful, sexy and fun.

Together we dominated. I’m talking shopping, world tours, sold-out stadiums. But behind closed doors I suffered in silence. The more fame we found together, the more it felt like the world was trying to tear us apart. And in the end, the world won. There’s a lot I had wish it had been different. So when we got the chance to reunite recently, we did it with a bird’s eye view of the past, with what we got And that’s my girls forever.
