Sandals Resorts International Announces US$200 Million Reissue of Three Iconic Jamaica Resorts | News

Sandals Resorts International (SRI) today announced a US$200 million investment to reimagine three of its iconic Jamaican resorts: Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals South Coast.

Following Hurricane Melissa last fall, Sandals Resorts International reopened five of its eight Jamaica properties in December, with Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals South Coast remaining closed for assessment. As restoration efforts have progressed across the three resorts, the company has identified an opportunity to implement a more comprehensive transformation, in line with the Sandals 2.0 vision. As a result, Sandals South Coast will reopen on November 18, 2026, followed by both Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals Montego Bay on December 18, 2026.

“The opportunity to completely reinvent three resorts on this scale, with complete focus and without compromising the guest experience, is extraordinarily rare.” said Adam Stewart, executive chairman of Sandals Resorts International. “When our doors were closed, we were presented with something we almost never have in the hospitality industry: a true blank canvas, and that clarity changed everything. We spent time walking around the properties, talking to our team and thinking about our guests. At a crucial moment, it became clear: we shouldn’t just fix what was there. We have to dream bigger. When we welcome our guests back, they will see the transformation and feel exactly why we chose to use this moment to create something worthy of their loyalty.”

This reinvention will unfold across many aspects of the guest experience, from striking new arrival points overlooking the Caribbean Sea to new accommodation categories, redesigned pools and reimagined lounge and social areas – all while maintaining the sense of place and unmistakable spirit that guests have come to know and love about these iconic properties. The culinary offering will also be expanded with the introduction of new dining concepts and bar experiences at each resort.

SRI further emphasized that all other resorts in Jamaica continue to operate and welcome guests, including Sandals Royal Plantation, Sandals Ochi, Sandals Dunn’s River, Sandals Negril and Beaches Negril, so guests can continue to experience the beauty of Jamaica as this exciting new chapter unfolds.

Sandals Resorts dominated the World Travel Awards 2025 (WTA), with several of the Jamaica-based properties taking top honors. During the 32nd annual ceremony, parent company Sandals Resorts International was named the Caribbean’s Leading Hotel Brand for the 32nd year in a row.
