‘SNL UK’ extends first season to 8 episodes

“Saturday Night Live UK” has added two more episodes to its first season, expanding its total series to eight shows.
The Sky series premieres live from London on Saturday at 10 p.m. local time, with “SNL” legend Tina Fey as host and British rockers Wet Leg as musical guests. Jamie Dornan will host the March 21 show with musical guest Wolf Alice, and Riz Ahmed will be on duty at Kasabian on April 4.
Each episode is 75 minutes long and is written and rehearsed during the week of broadcast before being filmed live in front of a studio audience. The show promises to bring a quintessentially British flair to “SNL,” but will also include familiar segments such as the opening monologue and “Weekend Update.”
In addition to a new host each week, “SNL UK” will be anchored by the cast: Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.
“Together, this first wave of hosts, musical guests and cast members marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for the globally acclaimed ‘SNL’ franchise – combining its legendary legacy with a new generation of British comedy voices,” said a press release.
“SNL UK” is produced by the British production team of Universal Television Alternative Studio and Broadway Video for Sky and NOW. Lorne Michaels is executive producer, James Longman will serve as lead producer, Liz Clare as director and Daran Jonno Johnson as head writer.
“SNL UK” will air live on Sky and streaming service NOW in the UK, and will be available the following day on Peacock in the US.
