Was Donald Trump right about the ‘racist lie’ that immigrants eat pets?

During a recent press conference at Trump’s Los Angeles golf course, he claimed: “In Springfield, Ohio, 20,000 illegal migrant Haitians have descended on a city of 58,000, destroying their way of life. They destroyed the place.”

“People don’t like to talk about it. Even the city doesn’t like to talk about it because it sounds so bad for the city,” he continued. “They live there…for years it was a great place. Safe. Nice. Now they have 20,000, and I heard today it’s 32,000.”

“We’re going to do major deportations from Springfield, Ohio, major deportations. We’re going to get these people out. We’re going to take them back to Venezuela.”

At another campaign stop in Tucson, Arizona, Trump reiterated: “Residents report the migrants are running away with the city’s geese. They took the geese with them. Do you know where the geese are? In the park, in the lake.”

“And even running away with their pets,” he continued mockingly. “‘My dog was taken! My dog is gone! These people are the worst!”
